CREATED FOR YOU BY THE MAKERS OF THE DAIRY DIARY

When considering ‘evergreens’ for the winter garden, don’t forget that the term covers yellow, grey and purple-leaved plants, as well as variegated ones. With the help of these – and lots of snowdrops – your winter garden won’t be bare.
And don’t forget the birds. In winter, if not before, set up a bird table in the garden and keep it well stocked with peanuts, seeds, bread and cake crumbs, bacon rind and other kitchen scraps. As Christmas draws near, make a traditional wreath for the front door using evergreens from your own garden – and, for a change, try decorating an outdoor Christmas tree.
